VE Day 80th Anniversary at Weardale Railway
On Monday 5th May, Weardale Railway is proud to be part of the national commemorations marking the 80th anniversary of VE-Day.
Trains will be running between Bishop Auckland and Stanhope, and we’re inviting YOU to step back in time with us!
Dress up in your best 1940s period costume if you wish and join in the spirit of the day.
Expect a nostalgic treat at Stanhope Station, dressed head to toe in red, white and blue, with live performances from Colin Bourdiec as George Formby bringing wartime cheer around train arrivals.
Pop into Fifteas Vintage Tea Room for a taste of the past with classic treats and a warm welcome.
Tickets are available to purchase online if you are travelling from Bishop Auckland and Wolsingham, if you are boarding at Witton le Wear, Kingfisher or Frosterley you can purchase on the train on the day
